Good, but take your ..
Overall the journey was good, the ferry is of good quality (the rooms are like a travel inn) Do not turn up early to the ferry though, as the gates do not open until 90 minutes before sailing, and any time before this will be spent in your car! The food is high quality, and the buffet has plenty of choice. My only dissapointment was the amount of things to do on board...unless you like drinking at Danish prices, or playing on slot machines, make sure you take soemthing to watch films on.

Ferry Review
Loved the experience - buffet breakfast great. Staff helpful and friendly. Accomodation clean, basic but very comfortable - a bar on top bunk would be helpful so that you don't fall out of bed! Would be nice if the shop had a greater selection of goods across a broader price range.
Overall we would recommend the experience to others - a nice way to get across to the continent.

Visiting family
I booked Newcastle to IJmuiden. The check-in lady discovered this mistake and immediately changed our trip with no problem.

Trip to UK
Did not find quay at Ijmuiden immediately (better signposting needed). Check in ok at Ijmuiden. Cabin with shower (inside) ok (noisy neighbours). Prices in shops higher than expected. Prices (euros) for food in restaurants high and quality poor, compared with normal Dutch prices and quality. Drinks prices compare favourably with Dutch cafe prices. Crossing smooth and on time. Disembarkation smooth at Newcastle. We would use DFDS again on this route.
