Lipari Ferry Port Overview
Lipari is the most populated and largest island of the Lipari Islands, sometimes called Aeolian Islands, which lie 15 to 35 miles off the northeast side of Sicily. Lipari was created by a succession of four volcanic movements, which left the island covered with pumice and obsidian. Ever since historical times pumice mining is an important industry on Lipari. The pale pumice is even shipped internationally.
Inhabited since Neolithic times, the island was colonized by Greeks in 575 BC, who called the island Meligunis. Greek and Roman ruins are still visible in the Diana District Archeological Park.
Thanks to its mild weather and breathless landscape with deep caverns and steep cliffs the island of
Lipari is an ideal holiday destination. Besides some beautiful beaches you will find volcanoes, castles, thermal spa's, water sports and perfect fishing spots.
Lipari Ferry Port Services
The port of Lipari is small and busy and offers a variety of facilities and services.
