Marseille Ferry Port Overview

Marseille Ferry Port is located on the south-east coast of France by the Mediterranean Sea. It also is the second largest city of France. Marseille Ferry port is Frances largest commercial port with links to Corsica, Sardinia, Algeria and Tunisia.

Marseille itself is a major centre of art and history, with many museums and galleries to visit. Most of the cities attractions can be found in the 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th arrondissements. These include the Old Port, the lighthouse of Sainte Marie, the history museum and much more. Transport in and around the city is simple, with an extensive network of motorways connecting Marseille to the North, West and East, a railway station with direct services to Nice, Toulouse and Barcelona, and an extensive bus network that serves the city and the suburbs of Marseille.

By Car
From Lyon/Montpellier, Marseille Ferry Port can be reached by taking the A7 and taking the first exit after Vitrolles towards the A55 following signs for Marseille - Vieux Port. Take exit number 4 off the A55 and follow signs for Gare Maritime.

From Aix en Provence/Lyon/Nice, Marseille Ferry Port can be reached by taking the A7 After exit number 5 stay to the right and follow directions for Gare Maritime. Leave the A557 at third exit and follow signs for Gare Maritime.

By Bus
A bus station is currently under construction next to Gare Saint-Charles with destinations mostly in the Bouches-du-Rhône. In the meantime buses to Aix-en-Provence depart from the nearby Porte d'Aix. Other buses to Cassis, La Ciotat and Aubagne depart from Castellane. An extensive bus network also serves the city and suburbs.

By Train
Gare de Marseille Saint-Charles is the main train station of Marseille with direct regional services to cities such as Nice, Toulouse and Bordeaux, as well as a service to Barcelona. Gare Saint-Charles is also one of the main TGV stations for the south of France making Paris reachable in just three hours, and making Lyon reachable in just over one and a half hours. There is also a direct TGV line to Strasbourg.
