P&O Ferries picked up the accolade for the best ferry operator at this year's Globe Travel Awards.
Presented by Travel Weekly magazine in partnership with Associated Newspapers, the Globe Travel Awards were handed out at a ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on January 27th.
P&O Ferries was named the leading operator in the ferry industry, while P&O Cruises picked up the 'favourite cruise company' prize in the consumer section of the awards.
The ferry operator won the award ahead of six other nominated companies DFDS Seaways,
Brittany Ferries, Seafrance,
Condor Ferries, Stena Line and
Irish Ferries.
Other winners on the night included Eurostar, which was named the best rail operator, and Holiday Extras, which won the award for the best insurance provider.
More than 50,000 votes were cast for the 2009 Globe Travel Awards, setting a new record, while online voting in the consumer section increased by 69 per cent on 2008.
