ENERMAR was created by Genoese entrepreneurs in order to take over from TRIS Traghetti, whose main route was Palau in Northern Sardinia to the island of Maddalena.

In 2003 the Genoa-Palau line was inaugurated. In 2004, Moby Lines was acquired by Enermar. In 2005, Enermar started new crossings between Italy and Croatia, linking Venice Chioggia to Split. In 2006, Enermar entered a joint-venture with DiMaioLines, Enermar & DiMaioLines.
