Ventotene Ferry Port Overview
Ventotene is an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the coast of Campania, Italy with a length of 3 km and a maximum width of about 800 mtrs. Ventotene is part of the Pontine Islands. The island of Ventotene is made up of the remains of an ancient volcano.
The Romans called the island of Ventotene Pandataria. It was the place of exile for the banished daughter of emperor August, Julia the Elder in 2 BC, as reaction to her excessive adultery, and of Agrippina the elder, grand-niece of Tiberius, in 29 AD.
Ventotene is more suited to those looking for some serious peace and solitude. In the small village and around the roman harbour you will find colourful houses and on the promenade several bars, restaurants and pizzerias.
