    Ferry from Venice to Greece
    • Venice to Igoumenitsa with Anek Lines

A very pleasant experience on a route where there is little choice. Cabin on board was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless and worked well. Food was adequate and other facilities were very pleasant. The boat sailed and arrived exactly on time.

    Venice to Crete: stage 1
    • Venice to Patras with Anek Lines

This ferry now leaves from Fusina ferry port. The Venice water buses arrive at Fusina but this is 2km from the ferry port with no public transport between the two, no way to contact a taxi and it's a long way to walk with luggage! I recommend that you call Anek Lines and ask for transfer bus to meet you. We asked a minibus driver if it was a taxi, it wasn't but it came back for us after about 20 minutes and gave us a ride to the ferry terminal. Make sure you allow time for all this! So, the ferry terminal. Hopefully it will have been built by the time you go. We wandered from one half built concrete shed to another for check-in and security. On board our cabin was small with bunk beds (fair enough) and wet room for shower/toilet. It smelled a bit! Bar and Restaurant. No frills. It's a long trip so take entertainment and maybe your own food and drink. Overall the trip and the ferry seemed much more geared to lorry drivers than private passengers.

    To athens
    • Chania to Piraeus with Anek Lines

Everything was fine until last moment - that is leaving the ship. Elevator from reception to the exit door was not working and climbing down the stairs with heavy luggage was a disaster, especially for my daughter. - - - all the nice impressions of a nice trip were evaporated when we were on the pier.

    Appalling Boat mainly for truckers
    • Venice to Patras with Anek Lines

We have travelled by ferry from Italy to Greece for years and the boats from Ancona are much better with a pool and several bar areas. This boat was extremely basic and geared towards truckers not holiday makers. Having said that the staff were lovely and the self service food area serves really good food.
