Arbatax is a small port with relatively few facilities. However, the town of Arbatax is only five minutes walk away, where you can find restaurants and shops.
You can easily get to Tortoli, the next biggest town to Arbatax, on the SS.131 motorway. After that, the port is clearly signposted.
The small fishing village of Arbatax is situated on the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Ogliastra provence of Sardinia, 5km west of the nearest town, Tortoli, and home to a small but busy port. Arbatax is a territory rich in green Mediterranean scrub and the characteristic red rocks and masses of porphyritic granite.
Arbatax is a stunning place to be in the spring, when you can see an explosion of colours with the contrast of the rocks of the headland and the reef, the white sandy beaches and the limpid waters. A natural frame to this panorama are the surrounding mountains, the highest on the island.
Trenino Verde is a famous tourist train which takes you up the mountainous hinterland. From the light house which sits above the village you can see a breathtaking view of the village. All these beautiful surroundings and the choice of activities make Arbatax a particularly pleasant seaside resort for holiday makers.
