The Port of Dunkerque is France's third largest port, because it is conveniently located between London, Brussels and Paris. Dunquerue allows passengers to quickly and efficiently embark, or disembark at the port, making it more convenient than the nearby port of Calais (45km away), which has far more sailings per day. All sailings to Dunkerque can be booked through AFerry.co.uk

Dunkerque is a city that has a lot to offer, from shops and great traditional restaurants, to sandy beaches and a brand new golf course.

    Dover Dunkerque vs Calais.
    • Dover to Dunkerque with DFDS Seaways

The extra time for the ferry trip is offset by the cheaper route across the channel. There are fewer ferries to Dunkerque so the chance of an earlier sailing is less than to or from Calais. The terminal building at Dunkerque for use on the way home looks new but has very few facilities. They need to get a real coffee shop open - the vending machines make useless drinks.

Easy check in, comfortable enough for a short 90 minute sail.
    • Dunkerque to Dover with DFDS Seaways

I travel alone most times with my 2 younger kids (4 and 6). What we love and why we usually choose this route especially is the small soft play area in a small corner of the ship as well as the tv sit down area. After 5 hours of car travel and another 4 after we disembark, this is much needed to let off steam for them safely. They look forward to it on the way! Food is overpriced for being just ok. The ship is cleaner some days tha others but in general we happily use dfds every time and they have been reliable and safe. Thank you.
