Discover Estonia
Estonia is located to the south of Finland in the Baltic region. Its neighbouring countries are Sweden to the West, Russia to the East and Latvia to the south. Tallinn is the capital of Estonia and is one of the ancient cities in Europe. In 1997, the medieval part of Tallinn has been listed in UNESCO's world heritage list because of its rich history, culture and architecture.
Estonia has a mixture of colourful history and dynamic present, every part of Estonia is different from each other; you can find contrasting lifestyles within a distance of about 20 kilometres which makes Estonia a very interesting place to visit. Away from the cosmopolitan Tallinn, you can find some of the most picturesque fishing villages and quiet towns nestling among beautiful hills and lakes along with a rugged coast line on the west.
Travel in Estonia
There are frequent ferries to Tallinn from Helsinki and once you are there Estonia has very good bus and train services to get around from one place to the other which are not too far away anyway. Also there are plenty of taxis around which are not very expensive at all. If you fancy cycling around, that's even better as the terrain is flat in Estonia.
Things to See
Estonia has an abundance of places to visit. Some of the must see places in Estonia are the old cobblestoned part of the town in Tallinn, the Toompea Castle, Kadriorg Palace, St. Olaf's Church and Tallinn's open air museum. Some of the other cities to visit in Estonia other than Tallinn are Haapsalu, Narva, Parnu and Tartu.
The easiest way to explore Tallinn is to buy a Tallinn Card which gives you access to all the public transport, various museums, spas, nightclubs and also discounts in restaurants.
