Barcellona to Palma with Balearia

There's not a lot of choice to take a car to Mallorca, and sadly Balearia is one. Check in can take hours, and 2 years ago we found that we didn't have the cabin we had booked and paid for on the overnight crossing. The refund is naturally much less than what we paid for the cabin! This year we got the cabin, but it was so noisy from the ship's engine that we could hardly sleep. A crew member told us all the cabins would be the same, but when we returned to Barcelona on the same boat it was not the case. Not a helpful crew! The price is very high, unless you are a resident on Mallorca, then it's very low. So it's nice to be subsidising those people - not. We didn't eat on board so ignore the 3 stars.

Ibiza to Denia with Balearia

Great easy and simple. Booking with Aferry super easy. Then went onto Balearia website printed out boarding cards. Simple easy. Then queued up for ferry and tried a little of my minimal Spanish which was appreciated. Nice area for my dog. Then on offer a menu del dia not bad but opted for the al a carte restaurant 20e 4 course menu well worth it. Great journey!!

Palma to Barcellona with Balearia

Although we were travelling in peak holiday season the passengers on this ferry were predominantly lorry drivers. They occupied much of the top outside deck, were served excessive amounts of alcohol by the ferry staff , despite having to drive lorries at their destination and they threw empty beer cans and snack packets all over the deck. Much of their rubbish was getting blown into the sea. In fairness the bins on the deck were over flowing making it impossible to throw litter away. I went to reception and spoke to the manager to request the bins be emptied. Unfortunately this didn't happen and rubbish from the boat was blown into the sea throughout the rest of the crossing. The quality of the food on board was poor and the shop was open for a very limited number of hours having two members of staff serving when it was open when only one was necessary. Very strange given there was a captive market. We paid for premiun seats but given tickets are not checked when seated we suspected there were many people seated in this area without the appropriate tickets. In fact we heard one group of people saying they were going to sit in this area without a ticket because documentation was never checked. The staff, apart from the manager, were generally helpful and friendly. Top marks go to the check in staff at the terminal who were charming. Unfortunately this is the only really positive comment I can make. Most of the above was frustrating but the rubbish being blown into the sea was seriously unacceptable. I hope some action will be taken to prevent this in future given the number of crossings this company are making a day.
