Naxos to Santorini with Blue Star Ferries
We have been doing our first time of island hopping and used Blue star ferry between pireaus and the islands we travelled to - naxos, santorini and paros. The ferries were enjoyable, clean, always on time and we would use them again, we went economy class which had plenty of seats both undercover and in the open.
Rhodes to Kos with Blue Star Ferries
Our first impression of Blue Star was the high standard of crew members welcoming passengers on board in particular their smart dress and . The journey was smooth and relaxing and thoroughly enjoyed. Looking forward to our next visit to the Islands
Amorgos/Aegiali to Piraeus with Blue Star Ferries
We got married on the island of Amorgos, so had a lot of people travelling on the ferry to get to our wedding. Booking the ferries was a hassle, as we were told one day that there were boats available on certain dates but tickets couldn't be purchased so far in advance, so we booked our flights around them and waited until we could pay for the boat. When it came to buying tickets, we were then informed that there were no boats sailing at all on these dates and were forced into buying tickets on extremely inconvenient days, and resulted in us having to stay longer in Athens. After purchasing these tickets, we were then informed that actually Blue Star was sailing on the dates we needed afterall, but we weren't allowed a refund, which resulted in us purchasing tickets that we would no longer be using! Wasting money when you're paying for a wedding is not something I planned on. There was a great deal of stress getting to the island from Athens due to strikes that we hadn't been informed of, and on the way back were told that that the boat was leaving 30 minutes early due to strikes again, only to wait for two hours at Sunrise in the cold as the boat was late. Unfortunately the only way to get to the island before peak season is from and to Athens, and this very long journey wouldn't be a problem if proper, confortable reclining seats were available so you could sleep (The Airseats were even more uncomfortable than the lounge area and gave most people neck pains) and if good food could be purchased at a reasonable cost. The only sandwiches available were meat, and expensive for what they are, and the only hot food you can buy is Burger and Chips. Luckily we had some of our own food that we could eat otherwise we'd have not eaten for over eight hours. Luckily the island is worth the travelling, and our wedding was absolutely beautiful, but next time we visit we shall have to go in the middle of the season so we can fly to Naxos or Santorini and have a very short trip to Amorgos. I couldn't face that awful long journey again!
