Mykonos to Santorini with Sea Jets
Having had our Seajet ferry cancelled from Athens to Mykonos 2 days prior to departure (which was never rearranged after confirmation it would be, so we turned up early at the port and booked with another company), we had hoped our second booking with Seajets from Mykonos to Santorini would be more smooth. After an unco-ordinated and hectic boarding process where people and bags were being thrown about, we were wishing we were back on the Blue Star ferry (taken from Athens to Mykonos). Staff were rude and shoved people left, right and centre, and there was no order to how bags were stored. Upon arrival in Santorini we discovered a large suitcase missing. Having not located it after 5mins we alerted staff. Our remaining suitcases were then thrown off the boat and we were told the boat was departing, if we could not find the missing suitcase they would search after the last port and contact us and then proceeded to throw us off the boat by calling the PORT POLICE!! Considering nobody from Seajets wanted our contact details and with the Captain of the boat screaming at us to "get off his *#%! boat" and claim our missing luggage items on our travel insurance, we were left with little hope. After 2 days of no help from either Seajets, their local agency or the Port Police, we reported our suitcase stolen to Police. Our hotel owner and Port Police both acknowledged that this is a regular occurrence on Seajets. I highly recommend that when travelling by sea in the Greek Islands that you take Blue Star Ferries. They take a bit longer but have similar facilities to a cruise ship and you can enjoy walking around or having a beer/food in the open air restaurant.
Mykonos to Naxos with Sea Jets
Online booking was a breeze and all worked well. We rushed from the airport to make the ferry scheduled time of departure. There was no need as the ferry was 4 hours late. Apparently Sea Jets have a bit of a reputation for poor timing so take this into account when planning your journey. The return trip was much better and they were only 5 minutes adrift.
Rafina to Mykonos with Sea Jets
We had a tight schedule planned to make sure we arrived at a friends wedding on time in Paros. Having successfully got to Rafina we were told that our Sea Jets ferry was canceled due to 'a mechanical fault'. As a result we had to buy new tickets and wait 5 hrs for another ferry which took 5hrs instead of 1.4. As a result we arrived 8 hours late to Mykonos. We were then to catch a Sea Jet ferry to Paros. This again was cancelled! We left the next day 6 hours later. We also found that a majority of the wedding guests also had cancelled Sea Jet ferries due to a 'current in the sea'. We had no notice, no guidance or support and worst of all our B and B lady later found out in Greek that the ferries were all cancelled because they had not sold enough tickets to make it worth it for them. This was a massive disappointment which caused a lot of stress and people to miss the wedding and their flights home. A stark contrast to the excellent customer service we received throughout the rest of our stay.
