Barcellona to Civitavecchia with Grimaldi Lines

Clean and friendly but not enough vegan food or living plants. It would have been nice to have a free space for meditation/ yoga also.

Barcelona to Tanger med

Barcellona to Tanger Med with Grimaldi Lines

We decided to go by ferry as it seemed to be the cheaper option, but it wasn't at all what we expected. The seating area we'd booked was covered in people sleeping all over the floor (as well as all along the communal walkways, stairs, cafe etc.), so we had to upgrade to a rather more expensive cabin to get a chance of sleeping during the 2 night trip. The food was largely catered for meat eaters, with only overpriced plain spaghetti and dry bread for vegetarians. Also, the cafe didn't open until 8 for the evening meal so we were left rather hungry! The shop was under-stocked, offering only toys, alcohol and cartons of cigarettes. On the morning of arrival we were woken up at 7am and told to leave the rooms, despite the ferry not docking until 4 hours later. All in all we were very disappointed with the services, prices and food, and will not be using this company again nor recommending them. The only positive part of the experience were some of the staff, who were friendly, well mannered and helpful.

Grimaldi Lines ferry Livorno to Barcellona

Barcellona to Livorno with Grimaldi Lines

Grimaldi check-in office in Livorno very difficult to find - no signs or other information provided & not near the ship's berth. Luckily a security guard showed us the way in his van! Ship "Ikarus Palace" was OK but we were fortunate to have a suite / cabin. Check-in at Barcelona was a little easier, but only because we checked it out on foot a day before departure! On board self-service food poor and expensive. Restaurant better quality but very expensive. Staff friendly & helpful, but on-board facilities are very limited and not well maintained. Cost about the same as driving from Italy to Spain, but avoids long distances on motorways. In general, an adequate, but not wonderful, experience.
