Barcellona to Palma Mallorca with Trasmediterranea
This year we changed from travelling by ferry with Balearia to Trasmediterranea and it made such a difference. Check in was smooth and efficient as was boarding. Our cabins were clean and comfortable and it was a pleasant crossing. The journey back was the same, the catering wasn't great, we went for the menu del dia and most of it was inedible but we enjoyed the crossing anyway!
Barcellona to Palma Mallorca with Trasmediterranea
Finding new departure port in Mallorca chaotic Cabins on board freezing due to air conditioning, can't turn down.
Arrecife to Sta Cruz de la Palma with Trasmediterranea
I'd recommend this carrier if your purpose is just to get from one port to another - but NOT if you're more into something like a cruise. Acciona, at least in the Canaries, is not primarily about passenger transport and it shows. Mostly they seem to be about shipping goods and vehicles and passengers are just an extra. Almost the entire distance from Arrecife to La Palma is covered at night, with only 4 hours of sailing in the daytime. There are two long stops (Gran Canaria and Tenerife), but not long enough to really visit the cities. It's not terribly expensive, though: 120E gets you a cabin for two people for two nights, so you save on accommodation. As to the check-in procedures, *nothing* is explained in advance, and it's very hard to get any information, let alone in English. Overall, it seems like passengers without vehicles are not a substantial source of income from Acciona, so they do not have sufficient motivation to treat them better than other types of goods that are shipped between ports.
