All the checking in and going on board went very well but the journey started with a delay of 2.5 hours. We then ran another 1.5 hours late. The departure time of the ferry is extremely bad as you arrive in the evening in Germany. This means that any passenger who wants to travel onwards has to travel throughout the night. Running 4 hours late, the ship did not arrive in Germany until 1 a.m. Plus there is no entertainment or variety of shops/Restaurants on board. Being stuck on there for 33 hours is extremely boring and the food wasn't even good. 9.4
Booking process with AFerry very simple and straightforward. Travemunde and nearby Lubeck are interesting places to explore before setting off. Journey very pleasant, comfortable and convenient journey. Ferry crew very friendly and helpful. The arrival port in Helsinki is a long way out (bus and metro journey into centre). 9.2
Although the embarkation at Travemunde took an age, the rest of our voyage was pure heaven. We knew instantly that we were aboard a Finnish ship by the solid good taste of the fittings of the cabin and all areas of the 'Nordlink'. The meals were superb, all the staff friendly and very helpful and the facilities all we could ask for. Finally, the journey was enhanced by perfect weather. I was almost sorry when the coastline of Finland came into view, because that meant that our voyage was over. Our return trip, two weeks later, aboard the 'Finnstar' was equally pleasurable. Thank you to all the staff onboard 'Nordlink' and 'Finnstar', and we look forward to seeing you next year. 7.6
I travelled backwards and forward to Helsinki quite a bit last year as I was working over there. When I finally left for good I needed to bring all my possessions home, so drive/sail was the the only option. Finnlines was the obvious choice to avoid the hell of Polish driving. I can honestly say I've never felt more comfortable tucked up in my cabin asleep as I did onboard this ship - Arrived ready for the German autobahns fresh as a daisy. Recommended. |
