Gills Bay Ferry Port Overview
Gills Bay ferry port lies on the Pentland. It is easily reached when driving round the Scotish north coast road. Gills Bay is located to the northeast of the Caithness settlement of Gills, 3 miles (5 km) west of John o' Groats in Highland Council Area. It is a favourite sunbathing spot for local seal populations.
The ferry operator Pentland Ferries offers a complete service for vehicles and passengers from 1 June 2001. Pentland Ferries connect the ferry port of Gills Bay in the north of Scotland with St Margaret's Hope port at the Orkney Islands.
Sailings departing up to three times daily during the winter and up to four in the summer, average sailing time between the scenic ferry ports of Gills Bay and St. Margaret's Hope is 1 hour.
Gills Bay Ferry Port Services
A new ferry terminal has been constructed for the Pentland Ferries services for vehicles and passengers between Gills Bay and St Margaret's Hope.
