HD Ferries provided a high speed Channel Island ferry service linking the ports of Jersey and Guernsey in the Channel Islands with the port of St Malo in France.
HD Ferries announced that it was ending its 2008 summer service early due to the current economic slowdown and rise in fuel costs in September 2008. Unfortunately, it was announced by HD Ferries in February 2009 that the service would not be resuming in summer 2009.
HD Ferries Overview
HD Ferries' HD1 high speed catamaran ferry service provided the fastest crossing time between the ports of Jersey and St Malo (just 1 hour) and offered an affordable, value for money service for passengers and freight with reliable and frequent daily departures.
The service began on the 15th March 2007 with a daily summer timetable from Jersey to St Malo and inter-island connection crossings.
HD Ferries Routes Overview
The summer schedule had two daily departures between Jersey and St Malo with an average crossing time of 1 hour. There were direct crossings between Guernsey and St Malo on Fridays and Mondays, with an average crossing time of 2.5 hours and two crossings daily between Jersey and Guernsey with a short 1 hour sailing time. The winter schedule consisted of four weekly departures.
HD Ferries provided a new Channel Island ferry service which met the growing demand for a competitive, reliable and good value for money service between the Channel Island ports of Jersey and Guernsey and the French port of St Malo.
HD Ferries Fleet and Onboard Facilities
HD Ferries (HD1) fast catamaran ferry was built in 1998 and was the most up to date ferry service available in the Channel Islands and has a top speed of 47 knots which meant passengers could also enjoy the fastest service available.
The HD1 can hold 100 cars, or 70 cars and 10 x 8 metre freight vehicles and up to 400 passengers in a spacious and comfortable environment. Onboard the HD1 ferry you will find a duty free shop with a wide range of available goods, a fully licensed bar and café with a great selection of light refreshments, and comfortable, spacious lounges where you can enjoy your journey.
