Helsingor Ferry Port lies on the Coast of Zealand Island in Eastern Denmark 28 miles north of the Danish capital Copenhagen. Oresund sound (a narrow strait of water) separates Helsingor from the Swedish city of Helsingborg.
The modern port of Helsingor is a gateway from Denmark to Sweden and is well connected to the rest of Denmark by rail, road and bus including frequent connections to the capital of Copenhagen. Helsingor Ferry Port developed gradually over the years because of the increasing ferry traffic between Helsingor and Helsingborg and now caters for even large cruise ships.
