Igoumenitsa is the capital of Thesprotia prefecture in Greece. It is located on the east side of the Corfu Channel.
The town is an important ferry port and a tourist centre, being a gateway to Western Europe, and a major hub for Adriatic Sea traffic.
Igoumenitsa is a beautiful small coastal town with lots of green, fantastic beaches with clear blue waters and green mountains surrounding the town.
Its original ancient name used to be Titani. During the 4th centure BC it was one of the most important towns in the Thesprotis Kingdom. Interesting archaeological sites can easily be reached from Igoumenitsa. One of the sites worth visiting is the archaeological site Phanote is about 20Km from Igoumenitsa.
