The Iraklian port is found in the small town of Aghios Georgios, on the north coast of the island. This picturesque town, like many other Greek island towns in the Cyclades, is very small but has a small array of wonderful sandy beaches that are perfect for long, lazy days on the beach. You can get ferries from Ios to destinations all over the Cyclades Islands.

Ios has very few facilities but it is set in the heart of the town, where there are a variety of restaurants and cafes.
Although there is a small road network on the island, only a few cars and buses use it. The recommended best way to travel around the island is by foot or by bicycle. There are hire cars available during the peak season but there are only a very limited number of cars available at a time.
After a day by the sea, spend your night there too by eating in one of the three tavernas serving delicious Greek food.
Around the island, you will find the Agios Ioannis, a cave beneath Iraklia's highest mountain that is also an incredibly unique church. There is hardly any tourism on the island and as a result Iraklia is almost completely untouched by other European tourists, and a place to find beautiful seclusion.
