The La Maddalena archipelago is a national park, and is known for its beautiful scenery with splendid beaches, rocky terrain and ancient fortifications. The town of La Maddalena is popular with tourists, and has many shops, bars and restaurants. It is also home to the Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena (St. Mary Magdalene church) which dates from 1814, and the Museo Diocesano which houses religious artefacts and paintings.
