Lerwick port facilities

Lerwick Ferry Port became fully operational in October 2002 and continues to provide excellent facilities for passengers. A limited number of free parking spaces are provided by Lerwick Port Authority for both short stay and long stay parking; however, availability of long stay parking spaces is not guaranteed and overnight parking in the short stay car park is prohibited.

Getting to Lerwick

Holmsgarth terminal is about 1 mile north of the town centre, opposite the Shetland Hotel, and is served by buses and taxis. For vehicle drivers, all ports are clearly signed.

A limited number of free parking spaces are provided by Lerwick Port Authority for both short stay and long stay parking, this being sign posted accordingly. It should be noted that the availability of long stay parking spaces is not guaranteed and overnight parking in the short stay car park is strictly prohibited.

Lerwick Bus Station is located less than one mile from the ferry terminal. Bus services in Shetland are provided by the Shetland Islands Council and operated by various local operators.

About Lerwick

Lerwick Ferry Port is situated in the North harbour, about a mile from the town centre. Lerwick is the capital of Shetland and it centers all its activity around its busy port, particularly during the summer. The name Lerwick comes from the Old Norse and means "Bay of Mud".
