Near Mariehamn ferry port passengers will find a good selection of shops and restaurants, with hotels also close at hand. Getting to Mariehamn

Sundqvists operates all the bus services on the island. There are frequent connections from the bus station just outside the ferry terminal to the centre and to Eckerö.

There is no railway network on the Åland Island.

About Mairehamn

Mariehamn was founded in 1861 as part of the Russian Empire and was named after Maria Alexandrovna, the Empress consort of the Russian King Alexander II and since then remained an autonomous region of Åland.

Mariehamn is a very attractive town with wide streets and green spaces with stunning displays of spring flowers everywhere. It is a small youthful town with restaurants and bars to suit every taste within walking distance from the Mariehamn Ferry Port.

The town offers a lot to explore such as the nautical museum in the ship Pommern, built in Glasgow in the 1930 or simply relax by the beach.
