Minorca Ferry Port Overview
Minorca, or Menorca, is one of the popular Spanish Balearic islands and is a well-known tourist destination. There are two main ports on Minorca, Ciutadella in the north-west of the island, and Mahon in the south-east of the island.
Minorca is popular with tourists due to its large number of pleasant sandy beaches, such as Cala Galdana, Cala'n Bosc and Son Bou. The old town of Ciutadella, which is the former capital of the island is beautiful to walk around while the present capital of Mahon, or Mao, has many amenities and a beautiful harbour lined with restaurants, bars and shops.
Minorca is an island of varied scenery and landscape; the north of the island is hilly with beaches of reddish sand, while the south of the island is flatter, with white sandy beaches surrounded by pine trees. The highest point on the island, El Toro or Monte Toro, is 1174ft above sea level; at the top you will find a Franciscan convent which is open to the public in the summer months and provides a beautiful setting in which to enjoy the views over the island.
Minorca is also home to many megalithic stone monuments that point to early prehistoric human activity on the island. The best way to get around Minorca is by car, allowing you to visit the many sites and attractions that Minorca offers.
