About Mytilene

Mytilene is located on the island of Lesbos, off the eastern coast of Greece, in the Aegean Sea. Mytilene is the capital of Lesbos, and is a interesting destination for many as it is a small, easily discovered city that is home to excellent restaurants, bars, nightlife and large shops. The city is one of the largest producers of Ouzo (a Greek alcoholic drink tasting of aniseed) in Greece (Lesbos itself has over 15 producers of the drink on the island), and relaxing in the city's ouzeries is one of the most delightful ways to spend your time in Mytilene.

Mytilene's main streets offer a wide selection of local restaurants and cafés that serve traditional Greek cuisine and drinks, and are busy throughout the year. The island of Lesbos itself has much less of the tourism that has turned other islands in the area into loud amusement parks, and can offer visitors a more relaxed, traditional and refined Greek experience. Mytilene itself also offers two fine archaeological museum showing ancient relics and items found on the island.
