Baltivia - Major capacity increase to and from Poland
Polferries newly acquired ferry Baltivia, which is currently at Remontowa Shiprepair Yard in Gdansk for an overhaul, will begin sailing between Nynashamn and Gdansk on 9 January, next year. This means that Polferries will have two vessels on the route, the Baltivia and the
Scandinavia.
"This will have a large impact on our cargo capacity when it comes to the traffic to and from Poland. This year, we expect to handle 9,000 cargo units; next year, this figure will increase sharply", says the head of the port of Nynashamn, Peter Angsas.
The Baltivia, which has a capacity of 80 cargo units, will sail from Nynashamnthree times a week.
The Scandinavia, with a capacity of 80 cargo units, will continue with three departures a week from each port."We see that there is a large demand for goods transportation between Sweden and Poland. Hopefully, we will have full crossings", says Peter Angsas.
