Tens of thousands of passengers travelled on the Belfast ferry during the Easter break, figures from
Stena Line have revealed.
The ferry operator accommodated 23,468 passengers on its Stranraer to Belfast route between April 1st and April 6th, while it also transported 4,718 cars on its services.
Across all its route network, Stena Line carries 55,000 passengers and 12,500 vehicles, figures that were welcomed by Nigel Tilson, Stena Line's communications manager.
He said: "Every year at this time, we see a dramatic upturn in bookings due to the volume of people who are travelling home to visit friends and family or enjoy an Easter break and this year is no exception."
Mr Tilson went on to say that students form a large part of the operator's customer base during Easter, with many taking time off from university to enjoy home comforts.
Last month, Stena Line announced its intention to invest £9 million in a makeover of its Irish Sea fleet.
