Anyone catching
ferries to France with their car is advised of a new law that has come into force in the country.
Motorists caught using their mobile phone while behind the wheel, even with a hands-free set, can now face an on the spot fine in an effort to improve road safety.
As a result, drivers could find themselves paying out €130 (£107), which could significantly increase the cost of their trip.
French motorists may also incur three penalty points on their licence under the new regulations that were put into action on January 3rd 2012.
There are a number of other things to bear in mind when driving in France, with the most important of them being the fact that they drive on the right.
It is also necessary to have a driving licence, insurance documents and car registration information with you at all times, as spot checks are relatively common.
