Holidaymakers who enjoy sampling foreign cuisine might be interested in taking ferries to Spain this year to visit some restaurants that have been ranked among the best in the world.
El Bulli in Roses took second place in the San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants 2010 list, while El Celler de Can Roca in Girona was ranked fourth.
Two establishments on Spain's north coast - Mugaritz in Errenteria Gipuzkoa and Arzak in San Sebastian - featured in fifth and ninth positions respectively on the list, which was compiled by Restaurant magazine.
Travellers can reach northern Spain by taking
ferries from Portsmouth to Bilbao with
P&O Ferries, while
Brittany Ferries offers crossings to Santander from Portsmouth and Plymouth.
People who want to sample the cuisine on offer at the restaurant that was voted the best in the world this year can take ferries from Harwich to Esbjerg with
DFDS Seaways and travel to Copenhagen.
Noma in the Danish capital took top place this year, ending the four-year run enjoyed by El Bulli between 2006 and 2009.
