People based in Ireland might be interested in booking a ferry crossing over the coming months to visit some of the attractions that were recognised at the recent Enjoy England Excellence Awards.
The event presented accolades to a number of sites across the country, including Blists Hill Victorian Town in Shropshire and the Imperial War Museum North in Manchester, which received silver awards in the category covering large visitor attractions.
To visit either of these locations, travellers can take
ferries from Dublin to Liverpool with
Norfolkline Irish Sea or
P&O Ferries and drive into north-west England.
Enjoy England's Excellence Awards also covered small attractions, with the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham taking the top award in this section.
Oakham Treasures in Bristol and Ripley Castle in Harrogate, Yorkshire both received silver accolades.
The Blackpool Illuminations took the top honour in the category covering England's best tourism events, ahead of the Salisbury International Arts Festival and the Brighton Festival.
People coming from Northern Ireland can take ferries from Larne to Fleetwood with
Stena Line, while
Norfolkline sails from Belfast to Liverpool.
Several services connect England to mainland Europe, such as
LD Lines' Portsmouth to Le Havre ferry route and
Seafrance's
ferries from Dover to Calais.
