Britain 'has something to suit everybody'

British holidaymakers who opt to take ferry trips to domestic destinations this year can visit places that appeal to all tastes, according to VisitBritain.

Sian Brenchley, corporate communications manager for the tourism agency, said that Britain has "something to suit everybody" despite the broad range of interests that people have.

She also stressed that companies should be marketing domestic tourism options now to take advantage of improving public opinion regarding British holidays.

"People have been very impressed with the regeneration that has occurred across the country; cities and beachside resorts are now providing better quality and better standards," Ms Brenchley said.

"We're working very closely with the industry to provide best value offers at the moment so people can have really good value experiences."

Travellers who choose to take their holidays in the UK and Ireland this year can reach a number of destinations by ferry, including Scotland's Orkney Islands with Pentland Ferries or the Shetland Islands with Northlink Ferries.

Dublin ferries are available from Liverpool and Holyhead with P&O Ferries and Stena Line respectively, while Irish Ferries sails from Pembroke to Rosslare.
