Britain 'offers romance and excitement' | | | | 05 September 2008 | One of the big advantages of Britain for people taking ferry crossings and other trips around the region is its diversity and the range of experiences it provides, it has been claimed.
VisitBritain spokesman Elliott Frisby said that while it is traditionally a romantic holiday location, Britain also offers a choice of modern and exciting pursuits.
"Britain has always been a romantic destination but we are certainly witnessing the rising popularity of niche interests that include activity breaks from watersports to 'Go Ape' treetop walkways and ziplines," he said.
"The great benefit of this country is that there is plenty here that appeals to both interests."
There are plenty of locations around Britain that are accessible via ferry crossings and offer opportunities for both relaxation and excitement, such as the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man and Scotland's Orkney Islands.
Operators serving these destinations include Wightlink, the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and NorthLink.
According to the United Kingdom Travel Survey, there were 32.9 million overnight trips made in the UK by UK residents between January and April 2008. |
