Britons do not want to keep on tightening their belts to the point that they forego their holidays, American Express has said.
Head of British Airways American Express credit cards at the company Julie Hays
noted that its research has revealed two-thirds of Britons plan a foreign break this year.
She added: "Of these, 30 per cent will visit one country per trip and ten per cent will travel through a number of different countries."
Those catching
ferries from Dover to Calais can easily accomplish such a trip, as they can move on from northern France to neighbouring nations such as Germany or the Benelux countries.
Ms Hays said other popular places will be warm Mediterranean countries and locations in the far north where the Aurora Borealis can be seen.
Data produced by the Office for National Statistics recently revealed that the number of Britons travelling overseas rose in 2011, the first time this had happened in four years.
