Ferries from Hull to Rotterdam could be very busy as Britons seek to get away from the country during the Olympic Games.
While sports fans may enjoy the event, a survey by Alamo Car Hire has found as many as a fifth of Britons plan to leave the country in July and August, Breaking Travel News reports.
Franchising director at the firm Neil Summerville said: "The soggy British summer, combined with a weak euro, means UK holidaymakers are heading overseas during July and August, with some travel agents reporting bookings up by over 200 per cent on last year."
The Netherlands may be a popular choice for those making the most of the cheap euro, with attractions like Amsterdam's museums offering some interesting shows this summer.
For example, the Van Gogh Museum is currently displaying an exhibition entitled Beauty in Abundance, which runs until September 23rd.
It features around 100 prints from artists like Bonnard, Gauguin, and Toulouse-Lautrec.
