Brittany Ferries has encouraged active holidaymakers to "discover the freedom of cycling in France".
The company said that miles of open roads, a warm climate and "great 'apres-bike' opportunities" make France "the natural choice for a cycle touring holiday".
Travellers can pack up the car and use
Brittany Ferries' Portsmouth to St Malo and Plymouth to Roscoff ferry routes to reach north-west France, which is home to several cycling routes.
Away from the main roads, there is a cycle network consisting of 'velo-routes' that link various towns and departments in the Brittany region.
Cyclists can also make use of traffic-free lanes known as 'voies vertes', which follow the routes of canal towpaths, river valleys and disused railway lines.
As well as travelling with
Brittany Ferries, people planning to visit France this year can use the Portsmouth to Le Havre ferry route operated by LD Lines.
The company also offers fast ferries to Boulogne from Dover with its new vessel Norman Arrow, which was launched earlier this month.
