Brittany Ferries is aiming to make marine biology fun for children this summer by hosting a series of onboard workshops.
The company has teamed up with research organisation Marinexus to offer a series of sessions that are available to passengers between the ages of eight and 12 travelling on
ferries from Plymouth to Roscoff.
Youngsters will be able to learn all sorts of fascinating facts about the oceans and the work of Marinexus, which has research centres in England and France.
Alongside the workshops,
Brittany Ferries is cooperating with the research group to improve its understanding of the western channel and monitor the effects that man is having on the sea.
The Armorique vessel has been equipped with an instrument that measures sea temperature, salinity, quantities of plankton and other indicators of water quality.
People planning a cross channel trip can also take
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo, Caen or Cherbourg with Brittany Ferries, while
P&O,
Norfolkline and
LD Lines offer services to north-east France.
