Brittany Ferries is offering some unusual entertainment this summer, with performances of the pantomime Dick Whittington onboard its cruise ferry Bretagne.
Families taking
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo will be able to see the show for free until September 2nd.
Passengers can enjoy an adventurous tale that travels from the streets of London all the way to Morocco, offering plenty of opportunities for audience participation along the way.
While the show features all of the popular pantomime traditions, it will also provide some surprises and twists, according to
Brittany Ferries.
John Harrison, the company's entertainment manager, said: "We've been looking forward to this all year. Pantomime is usually considered a Christmas treat - a way to banish the winter cold. But we think it makes a perfect end to the family holiday in France too."
He added: "We first tried the idea of a panto last summer when we staged Cinderella. It was so well received that we just had to put on another show this year - it's becoming something of a tradition."
The operator is one of many that sail to France, with
LD Lines offering regular
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre and both
P&O and
SeaFrance providing crossings on the
Dover to Calais ferry route.
