Brittany Ferries has promoted the PETS Travel Scheme, which provides a solution for people who want to take an overseas holiday but don't like the idea of leaving their pets behind.
The company offers the option for passengers who hold a valid certificate from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to bring their dog or cat onboard with them.
On France ferry routes, prices for the PETS programme start from £16.50, while people taking ferries to Spain will pay at least £66 to take an animal with them on a return trip.
It is compulsory for dogs to be muzzled and for all animals to have undergone certain tests before being brought onboard.
Two kennel sizes are available for dogs on
Brittany Ferries' Pont-Aven and Bretagne vessels on all services except the Plymouth to Roscoff ferry link.
People planning to visit Spain this year can take ferries to Santander from Plymouth with the operator, while those heading to France can choose from St Malo, Cherbourg and Caen ferry services, which operate from Portsmouth.
