People who enjoy nothing more than spending some time out on the fairway should consider paying a visit to France this year to try some of the country's golf courses, according to
Brittany Ferries.
The company said it is "fortunate" for British travellers that recreational golf has not taken off in France like it has in the UK.
Foreign visitors often find that courses in the country - particularly those in western France - tend to be quiet and uncrowded.
Golfers can see what the region has to offer by travelling on Brittany Ferries' Plymouth to Roscoff ferry route, or alternatively taking a ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo, Cherbourg or Caen.
There are several sites to visit in north-west France, including the Omaha Beach Golf Club and the links courses of Granville and Vire la Dathee.
Brittany Ferries also stated that the "apres-golf is part of what makes a golf break in France so memorable and so much fun", owing to the country's "outstanding cuisine, wine, cheeses and unique ambience".
People planning French holidays can also take
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre with
LD Lines or travel on the
Dover to Calais ferry route with
P&O Ferries or
Seafrance.
