Brittany Ferries has announced a partnership with marine conservation charity Orca that will help inform passengers of some of the wildlife they can see while travelling on the operator's ferries to Spain.
Orca's wildlife education officers will live and work onboard the
Brittany Ferries flagship Pont Aven, which operates on the Santander ferry route from Portsmouth and Plymouth.
They will help passengers spot whales and dolphins in the Bay of Biscay and also provide informative presentations about the mammals and their marine environment.
Pont Aven boasts a number of promenade decks and observation areas that provide travellers with plenty of vantage points to look out for wildlife.
David Longden, managing director of
Brittany Ferries, said: "Being a maritime company we're ever-conscious of the marine environment in which we operate, as well as the responsibilities which come with that.
"By working with Orca we can raise people's awareness of the wildlife of the Channel and Bay of Biscay, and in turn promote its protection."
In addition to its Santander ferry route, the operator provides ferries to St Malo from Portsmouth and sails to Roscoff from Plymouth and Cork.
