Brittany Ferries will today (March 22nd) improve its offering to passengers with the introduction of the Cap Finistere, which will operate three weekly sailings on the Portsmouth to Cherbourg ferry route.
People travelling to Spain will also be able to experience the new ship on three return crossings on the Portsmouth to Santander ferry link.
The company revealed that the vessel is being introduced to complement its existing services and will offer a high cruising speed combined with "the space, comfort and service for which Brittany Ferries ships are renowned".
Passengers on the Santander and Cherbourg ferry services will be able to try out a number of onboard facilities, including a swimming pool, movie lounges, a brasserie-style restaurant and a sun deck with a covered veranda.
Introducing the Cap Finistere earlier this year, David Longden, managing director of Brittany Ferries, said it will provide a further boost to the company's route to Spain, which has already seen strong forward bookings.
"We believe this is because Portsmouth is very easy to get to by road, especially from the Home Counties," he added.
"At the same time, more and more people are discovering the unspoilt delights of northern Spain."
The company also offers ferries to Caen and St Malo from Portsmouth, as well as a Plymouth to Roscoff ferry service.
