Brittany will cater well for families planning to take
ferries to France this year, a travel expert has suggested.
Commenting on the areas of the country that are most suitable for family holidays, Sean Tipton, a spokesman for Abta - The Travel Association, said Brittany is the "classic" choice.
Travellers can reach the region in north-west France by taking a ferry to Cherbourg from Portsmouth with
Brittany Ferries or using the company's Plymouth to Roscoff ferry route.
Commenting on the appeal of Brittany, Mr Tipton said: "It's very easy to get to [and] it's particularly attractive for families on a budget because there are a lot of campsites there.
"It's probably the number one
destination outside of Paris."
The Abta spokesman referred to other popular locations across France, identifying the Loire Valley and the Dordogne as regions that regularly attract high visitor numbers.
Holidaymakers planning a journey to north-west France this year have the option of taking ferries from Poole to St Malo with
Condor Ferries, which also operates services from Weymouth and Portsmouth.
