The city of Lille in France, which is easily accessible for people catching cross-Channel ferries, is once again entertaining its visitors this year with its famous Christmas market.
Running until December 30th, this event sees the entire city transformed into a winter wonderland sparkling with lavish festive decorations.
The market consists of some 80 chalets and sells a variety of Christmas gifts and souvenirs including nativity figurines, decorations, jewellery, clothing and much more.
Visitors will also be able to pick up plenty of traditional French food and mulled wine to stave off the cold.
The market itself is held in Pace Rihour, while in the nearby Grand Place, a Ferris wheel offers impressive views across Lille from 50 metres in the air.
Christmas holidaymakers can sail from Dover to Dunkerque with Norfolkline for a short drive to Lille, or alternately catch ferries from Dover to Calais with P&O Ferries or Seafrance.
