Family groups looking for a bargain break this year should catch ferries to France to visit one of the country's many holiday destinations, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Travel writer Nick Trend revealed in the newspaper that many mainstream holiday destinations, such as Turkey and Greece, have seen a surge of early bookings this year and are not offering many bargains.
In France, however, the story appears to be different, with "plenty of options and extremely keen prices" available to families, according to Mr Trend.
The travel writer recommended the Dover to Calais ferry service operated by
Seafrance, which offers affordable return crossings for a car and up to five people, even during peak travel periods.
Brittany Ferries also has "plenty of availability" on its services, including the popular Plymouth to Roscoff and Portsmouth to St Malo ferry routes.
Families can choose from many regions to visit in France, from Brittany in the north-west with its miles of beaches and watersports facilities to the picturesque Dordogne in the south-west.
