People looking for a special holiday experience should catch ferries to France to see Mont St Michel this year, the Daily Telegraph has recommended.
The newspaper points out that Brittany Ferries operates a number of routes that offer easy access to the attraction, with
ferries from Portsmouth to St Malo and Poole to Cherbourg.
A number of factors make Mont St Michel special, according to the Telegraph, including its "spectacular" position and architecture that mixes Romanesque and gothic influences.
It also boasts a fascinating religious legacy, which is represented today by the nuns and monks that remain in residence.
Mont St Michel is one of many attractions that lead travellers to catch ferries to France every year to explore Normandy, along with Rouen Cathedral, the Bayeux Tapestry and others.
In addition to the Brittany Ferries services, holidaymakers can catch
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre with LD Lines or sail from Weymouth to St Malo with Condor Ferries.
