The Alsace region will be worth a visit for travellers taking ferries to France over the coming months as it hosts a number of Christmas events.
One of the highlights will be the festive market in Riquewihr, a historic town in the Haut-Rhin area of Alsace.
The fair will open on November 28th and run until December 20th, providing plenty of opportunities for visitors to buy gifts and enjoy the festive shows that will be staged in the centre of town.
Holidaymakers can reach Riquewihr by taking ferries to Calais from Dover with P&O Ferries or
Seafrance and driving south towards France's border with Germany.
Norfolkline also offers a travel option with its Dover to Dunkerque ferry service.
Upon arrival, visitors will see that the town transforms itself into a winter wonderland during the festive season, with a host of decorations and lights put into place and plenty of good food, wine and music on offer.
Riquewihr is a popular destination throughout the year owing to its fascinating historical architecture and attractions such as the castle overlooking the village, which today serves as a museum.
LD Lines also provides access to France with its ferries to Boulogne from Dover and the Portsmouth to Le Havre ferry link.
