People who would like to pay tribute to the Allied troops who fought in World War II will be able to catch ferries to France at the beginning of June to take part in the D-Day celebrations in Normandy.
June 6th, the date of the Normandy landings in 1944, is celebrated every year in the region of northern France, but this year's commemorations will be particularly special as they will mark the 65th anniversary of the incursion.
Such is the significance of the occasion that American president Barack Obama will be among the people attending the celebrations between June 5th and 7th, along with 800 British war veterans.
Ferry travellers will be able to see spectacles including 25 simultaneous fireworks displays from one end of the landing beaches to the other and a parachute drop into the Pegasus memorial.
Bayeux, the first city in France to be liberated by Allied forces, will also be involved in the celebrations when it hosts a procession of World War II vehicles.
People interested in being a part of this event can catch
ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre with LD Lines or travel on the Portsmouth to Caen ferry service provided by Brittany Ferries.
