Anyone looking for a great excuse to party should make sure to visit Amsterdam during the city's annual Queen's Day, a celebration of the monarch of the Netherlands' birthday.
A huge party is held throughout the city for the event, with pop singers, gay parties, children's parties and fireworks all thrown into the mix.
Parades, craft shows, flea markets and mini music festivals all take place during the event, which is held all around Amsterdam.
Although the city is known as a great place to party, with relaxed rules and regulations, Queen's Day, held in April, is the best time to see the Dutch capital in all its glory.
Many revellers choose to wear orange for the occasion, the national colour of the Netherlands and it is a great time to shop, with all street trade being unregulated, leading to a large-scale car boot sale.
It is also a great opportunity to see Queen Beatrix, as well as some international renowned singers, with the likes of Sophie Ellis Bextor taking part in the past.
