Channel Tunnel services getting back on track | | | | 22 September 2008 | Brits who are planning to use the Channel Tunnel to set off on their self-drive ski holidays to France and other trips will be happy to hear that services through the tunnel are beginning to get back on track following the fire of September 11th.
Eurotunnel announced that it brought a 17-kilometre section of the north tunnel back into service on the morning of September 22nd.
This enables the company to increase the number of trains running through the tunnel to almost 170 per day.
People embarking on ski holidays and other trips through the Channel Tunnel can now access 44 Eurostar services and 29 passenger shuttles, with 90 truck shuttles and a varying number of rail freight trains also in operation.
Eurotunnel's technical staff are working on making another 17km section of tunnel available later this week, which would facilitate a further improvement in services.
Since September 13th, priority has been given to passengers who had already made reservations. Customers are now advised that they can make bookings for departures planned after October 5th. |
